Family Support Worker

Our client is a specialist in Children Centre's and Families services 

The Role: 
Currently our client is looking to recruit a Family Support Worker with at least 1 year experience in a Family Support Work role. To act as a member of a team that provides services to children and their families in a Children's Centre setting/family home with the purpose of safeguarding and promoting their welfare. To implement the policies and procedures of Children's Services (Safeguarding and Rights) with guidance from the Senior professional staff. 

You will: 
* Hold a valid CRB.
* Have knowledge of the principles of the Children's Act 1989/2004 
* Hold an NVQ3 in Children & Young People or equivalent

As a family support worker you will need:

  • the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with children and adults

  • the ability to build good relationships with families that may be unfriendly at first

  • a good understanding of child development and the needs of children

  • the ability to help parents develop the skills they need to run their home

  • a non-judgmental approach

  • a commitment to supporting people in difficult circumstances

  • understanding, patience and good listening skills

  • the ability to stay calm under pressure

  • good time management and organisational skills

  • a flexible approach

  • good team working skills
